Project Updates

January 10, 2019

We met with Mr. Robinson and determined our goals for before february will be to complete the majority of our research (survey too), have our website completed, start coding our app (have a few mini games completed), and contact our mentor the Sea Turtle Organization. We learned the name shell will no longer work :( so come to next meeting with some ideas! We also need to work on our launchpad questions and continue posting on our social media.

January 17, 2019

Yasmin said she would start working on the website, sea turtle survey is being worked on for our won raw data. We are still working on our launch pad so be sure to add to some of those answers. Meaghan and Zoe will continue research for the website. Autumn and Carrie have started planning out the game, looks great :)

February 7, 2019

The return of Mr. Robinson: We went over what we had accomplished since our last meeting with Mr. Robinson. We had created most of our survey, made a successful instagram, a website, and hashed out what is going to be in our app. We reached out to the Sea Turtle Organization for help and what they would be doing as our mentor but they have yet to respond, we plan to email them again.

February 21, 2019

We outlined what would be on each section of the app (How You Can Help and Information).  We discussed our upcoming Women’s Hackathon with the people who were attending. We assigned the research for each section to different people and told them to begin research.

February 28, 2019

We clarified who was researching and building what.  We began the beginning codes for each of the different pages and some of the games.  We also started to edit and create the presentation for ExpoFest.

March 7 2019:

We are working on on the presentation and the people who are planning on presenting the powerpoint at the expo fest will be practicing at some point during the next couple of weeks as well as in front of us too. We are continuing on the working on our games for our app and getting all the data from the survey we got from the public. We are looking into how much it would cost to adopt a sea turtle. Also we want to see what we would be able to get for our stand.

March 13 2019

Today we went to the Expo Fest Prep at IBM at learned so much. We presented in front of over 50 people and the judges gave great feedback. We learned that we should have our mentor be Mystic Seaworld in CT as there is a past skills 21 employee that works there and Mr. Mervis will be able to help us get in contact with them. Also, one of the judges friends is a marine biologist so we will reach out to them for sources, information, help with the app, consultations, etc. Our went to break out sessions and we each learned a bit.

May 9th

We started planning our booth for Expo we had people make posters and business cards. Our designer is making our logo and we are all very excited to see it! We are going to email Amy Gollenberg who works at Mystic Aquarium, we are hopeful that we will be able to mentor with her.

May 16th

We are only a couple of weeks away from Expo. We are all really excited and are pulling everything together. We got our logo and it looks awesome. Today we ordered some stuff for our booth and worked on finishing our app. We ordered some metal straws and made sure that we are all set for Expo. We made contact with Amy Gollenberg a couple of weeks ago and once we put all of our app together she is going to look over it for us.
